Zoster is a condition caused by the reactivation of the Chicken Pox virus that was lying dormant along the spinal cord. Blisters are seen in a nerve "dermatomal" pattern on the skin. But since the virus is afflicting nerves, it can hurt a lot.
There are several medical options for treating Shingles Pain. But if you want to try a vitamin/supplement option or in addition to medical, here you go!
Dr. Eads' recommendations:
1) Methylcobalamin B12. It HAS to be Methylcobalamin form. This is used by the body to remyelinate and repair nerves. Oral supplements are "OK", but the at-home shots are tremendously better. This does require a prescription to a compounding pharmacy, even though it's just a vitamin because it's a shot. The shots are easy. Just ask us to help you get this and we will! Make an appointment.
2) TMG.
Not TMJ, hahaha! Tri-methylGlycine can also repair nerves. Get 750 mg and take 3 times a day. Available online
3) MethylFolate. Also known as 5-methylfolate, this form of folic acid repairs nerves.
But #1 above is the most important!
May your Shingles Pain go away soon! Consider asking your PCP or neurologist for medical treatments, too!
No hype, just what they trust for healthier skin
