That thickened or darker skin on the back of your neck, knuckles, armpits, elbows and knees has a cause. And it's high Insulin levels.
Insulin resistance is quite common and leads to high insulin levels. Insulin resistance can be caused from diabetes, pre-diabetes, high sugar intake, genetics, and other hormonal imbalances.
So, to really help out our skin, we need to get those Insulin levels back down!
Dr. Eads' recommendations:
1) Lower Insulin levels by lowering sugar intake. I had to say it. I just couldn't ONLY tell you about a supplement!
2) Inositol powder.
Also known as Myo-inositol, this natural "sugar-like" substance is found in our foods and is made in our kidneys. But if you have Insulin resistance or high sugar intake, you may want to try this one. First of all, it tastes great! And I'm serious! It tastes like confectioner's sugar. I'd suggest sprinkling Inositol on top of brownies, but that might defeat the purpose, hahaha!
I recommend 2-3 grams twice a day. You can just put it in your mouth and chase it with water. Yummy! It might even help you kick the sugar habit. Now go read up on Inositol and Insulin and Acanthosis Nigricans!
3) Amlactin intensive healing lotion to exfoliate down that thick skin. If the skin is really thick, you can find Glytone heel and elbow cream.
4) Chromium picolinate.
Take 1,000 mcg a day. Available online
5) Magnesium.
You're gonna need about 500 mg a day in divided doses for insulin resistance. We recommend Magnesium citrate 170 mg three times a day. Magnesium can have a laxative effect, just so you know.
Come see us for more ideas, if that doesn't "kick it"!!
